Hosting and server logs
This website runs on servers inside the European Union (Scaleway, France). Requesting a page necessarily produces web-server log entries containing, among other things, the IP address, the date and time of the request, the address requested and the browser identification sent. This data is needed to operate the site securely and reliably, is evaluated for that purpose only, is deleted according to the host's default log rotation, and is not merged with poll or vote data. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in operating the website securely).
Poll and vote data
Whoever creates a poll submits its title, its options and, optionally, a description. Those entries are publicly visible to anyone who knows the poll's link, so do not enter anything there that should not become public.
A vote is stored solely as a ranking of the options. There are no user accounts; no name, email address or IP address is stored with a vote, and a vote cannot be linked to a person — not even by the operator.
The legal basis for processing poll and vote data is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: the legitimate interest in providing the service its users actively chose to use.
Retention
Polls and their votes are stored until they are removed on request; an informal email with the poll's link to the address below is enough. There is currently no automatic deletion after a fixed period. The operator reserves the right to delete polls that are no longer in use in the future; any such change will be announced here beforehand. Server logs follow the host's rotation period stated above.
No cookies, no profiling
This website sets no cookies and builds no user profiles. There is no cross-site tracking. No third-party content is embedded — no fonts, maps, videos or social media elements — so visiting the site sends no data to third parties. There is no automated decision-making, and no data is transferred to countries outside the European Union.
Web analytics with Umami
To see whether this website works, we use Umami — privacy-friendly web analytics that we run ourselves, on our own infrastructure inside the European Union. It records page views and anonymous usage statistics, as well as coarse interaction events, that is, which controls are used. The content of a poll or of a vote is never recorded.
Umami sets no cookies and stores no IP address: the IP address is used transiently only to derive a coarse country, and is discarded afterwards. No profiles are built, there is no cross-site tracking, and no data is passed on to third parties. Because no cookies are set and no personal data is stored, this website shows no cookie banner.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: the legitimate interest in seeing whether the site works — for instance, whether people who open a poll actually vote — in order to improve it.
Your rights
Where personal data is processed, you have the following rights against the controller:
- Access to the data processed (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Objection to the processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
- Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
Independently of these, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for the controller is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BlnBDI), Alt-Moabit 59-61, 10555 Berlin, Germany.
